Admission criteria for candidates for the first year of studies at 6-year M.D. programme, Faculty of Medicine

Candidate must be a holder of a high school diploma or a secondary school leaving certificate or equal as GCE A-level certificates or IB and EB diplomas qualifying for admission to a university or a medical school in the home country.

  1. Candidates holding a foreign high school diploma who apply for admission to the field of medicine are obliged to:
    1. prove their completion, either at high school and/or in a supplementary education mode, of the courses in the following subjects at advance level: obligatory biology plus one other course of their choice, namely: chemistry, physics, or mathematics , all attested with a certificate showing the obtained grade, or with the high school diploma, and
    2. sit down to the entrance examination in the English language in two subject areas at their advanced level, namely: biology and chemistry, where the examination is prepared by the University (the examination comprises a written section and a qualification interview).

  2. The above candidates should also present the document certifying their command of the English language at the level enabling the taking up of studies (level B2), if the language of instruction at their high school was other than English. The CEFR B2 level must be confirmed with the following certificates: IELTS – at least 6.5 points; TOEFL iBT – at least 87 points and minimum 3.5 points for the written TWE work, TOEFL PBT – at least 510 points in the test (at least 180 points in the computer system), or any equivalent certificate.
    As concerns candidates from the countries listed below, account is taken of their English language grades shown on their high school diplomas. The minimum required scores are:
    1. for candidates from Norway – 4;
    2. for candidates from Sweden – C (VG);
    3. for candidates from Denmark – 7.
      In the event a candidate from any of the above countries cannot evidence having obtained the minimum score in the English language as indicated above, he/she shall be obliged to submit a document referred to earlier on, confirming his/her command of the English language
  3. Candidates holding Polish ‘New High School Diploma ’ who apply for admission to the field of medicine are obliged to have passed their matriculation examination in biology, advanced level, and one other course of their choice, i.e.: chemistry, physics, or mathematics, also at the advanced level; moreover, they should have scored at least 80% in the written section of their matriculation examination in the English language, advanced level .

  4. Candidates holding Polish ‘Old High School Diploma’ (with the matriculation examination taken earlier than in 2005) who apply for admission to the field of medicine are obliged to submit the OKE certificate showing their results of the matriculation examination in biology, advanced level, and one of the following courses of their choice, i.e.: chemistry, physics, or mathematics, also at the advanced level; moreover, the OKE certificate should certify they scored at least 80% in the written part of the matriculation examination in English, advanced level.

  5. Candidates holding the International Baccalaureate® (IB) diploma and those holding the European Baccalaureate diploma (the ‘EB’) who apply for admission to the field of medicine are obliged to have passed their matriculation examination in biology, advanced level (HL), and one of the following courses of their choice: chemistry, physics, or mathematics, also at the advanced level (HL); moreover, they are required to take a qualification interview in the English language. Candidates holding the ‘IB’ international high school diploma or the ‘EB’ European Baccalaureate diploma whose grades in biology and chemistry, physics, or mathematics reflect the ordinary level are obliged to sit down to the entrance examination in the English language in two subject areas at the advanced level, namely: biology and chemistry, where the examination is prepared by the University (the examination comprises a written section and a qualification interview).

Admission criteria for candidates for the first year of studies at 5,5-year Master of Pharmacy programme, Faculty of Pharmacy

Candidate must be a holder of a high school diploma or a secondary school leaving certificate or equal as GCE A-level certificates or IB and EB diplomas qualifying for admission to a university or a medical school in the home country.

  1. Candidates holding a foreign high school diploma who apply for admission to the field of pharmacy are obliged to:
    1. prove their completion, either at high school and/or in a supplementary education mode, of the courses in the following subjects at advanced level:
      Option I: Chemistry (obligatory) plus one other course of their choice, namely: Biology, Physics, or Mathematics
      Option II: Biology (obligatory) plus one other course of their choice, namely: Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics,
      all attested with a certificate showing the obtained grade, or with the high school diploma;
      2. Take the interview based on the English language proficiency, motivation and predisposition for pharmaceutical profession and the knowledge of selected subjects.
  2. The above candidates should also present the document certifying their command of the English language at the level enabling the taking up of studies (level B2), if the language of instruction at their high school was other than English. The CEFR B2 level must be confirmed with the following certificates: IELTS – at least 6.5 points; TOEFL iBT – at least 87 points and minimum 3.5 points for the written TWE work, TOEFL PBT – at least 510 points in the test (at least 180 points in the computer system), or any equivalent certificate.

    Moreover, they are required to take a qualification interview in the English language. Candidates holding the ‘IB’ international high school diploma or the ‘EB’ European Baccalaureate diploma whose grades in biology and chemistry, physics, or mathematics reflect the ordinary level are obliged to sit down to the entrance examination in the English language in two subject areas at the advanced level, namely: biology and chemistry, where the examination is prepared by the University (the examination comprises a written section and a qualification interview).

Admission criteria for candidates for the first year of studies at 3-year Bachelor of Nursing programme, Faculty of Health Sciences

Candidate must be a holder of a high school diploma or a secondary school leaving certificate or IB and EB diplomas qualifying for admission to a university in the home country.

  1. Candidates holding a foreign high school diploma who apply for admission to cycle one studies in the field of nursing are obliged to submit their high school diploma or its equivalent showing their results in biology, the English language, and one of the following courses of their choice: chemistry, physics, or mathematics; they are also required to take the qualification interview in the English language

  2. Candidates holding the ‘New High School Diploma’ who apply for admission to cycle one studies in the field of nursing are obliged to hold the high school diploma stating their results in biology and one of the following courses of their choice: chemistry, physics, or mathematics; they must also prove the result of at least 80% in the written part of their matriculation examination in the English language, advanced level.

  3. Candidates holding the ‘Old High School Diploma’ (with the matriculation examination taken earlier than in 2005) or the ‘IB’ diploma who apply for admission to the field of nursing are obliged to submit the OKE certificate showing their results in the matriculation examination at the advanced level in biology and one of the following courses of their choice, i.e.: chemistry, physics, or mathematics, also at the advanced level; moreover, the OKE certificate should certify their obtained the score of at least 80% in the written part of the matriculation examination in the English language, advanced level.

  4. Candidates holding the International Baccalaureate® (IB) diploma and those holding the European Baccalaureate diploma (the ‘EB’) who apply for admission to cycle one studies in the field of nursing are obliged to submit their high school diploma showing their results in biology, the English language, and one of the following courses of their choice: chemistry, physics, or mathematics; they are also required to take the qualification interview in the English language.



Admission criteria for candidates for the Premedical Course

Candidate must be a holder of a high school diploma or a secondary school leaving certificate or equal as GCE A-level certificates or IB and EB diplomas qualifying for admission to a university or a medical school in the home country.

  1. Candidates holding a foreign high school diploma who apply for admission to the PreMedical Course are obliged to:
    1. prove their completion, either at high school and/or in a supplementary education mode, of the courses in the following subjects at advance level: obligatory biology plus one other course of their choice, namely: chemistry, physics, or mathematics , all attested with a certificate showing the obtained grade, or with the high school diploma, and
    2. attend Interview in the English language.

  2. The above candidates should also present the document certifying their command of the English language at the level enabling the taking up of studies (level B2), if the language of instruction at their high school was other than English. The CEFR B2 level must be confirmed with the following certificates: IELTS – at least 5.5 -6 points; TOEFL iBT – at least 79 points and minimum 3.5 points for the written TWE work, TOEFL PBT – at least 490 points in the test (at least 170 points in the computer system), or any equivalent certificate.
    As concerns candidates from the countries listed below, account is taken of their English language grades shown on their high school diplomas. The minimum required scores are:
    1. for candidates from Norway – 4;
    2. for candidates from Sweden – C (VG);
    3. for candidates from Denmark – 7.
      In the event a candidate from any of the above countries cannot evidence having obtained the minimum score in the English language as indicated above, he/she shall be obliged to submit a document referred to earlier on, confirming his/her command of the English language
  3. Candidates holding Polish ‘New High School Diploma ’ who apply for admission to the field of medicine are obliged to have passed their matriculation examination in biology, advanced level, and one other course of their choice, i.e.: chemistry, physics, or mathematics, also at the advanced level; moreover, they should have scored at least 80% in the written section of their matriculation examination in the English language, advanced level.

  4. Candidates holding Polish ‘Old High School Diploma’ (with the matriculation examination taken earlier than in 2005) who apply for admission to the PreMedical Course are obliged to submit the OKE certificate showing their results of the matriculation examination in biology, advanced level, and one of the following courses of their choice, i.e.: chemistry, physics, or mathematics, also at the advanced level; moreover, the OKE certificate should certify they scored at least 80% in the written part of the matriculation examination in English, advanced level.

  5. Candidates holding the International Baccalaureate® (IB) diploma and those holding the European Baccalaureate diploma (the ‘EB’) who apply for admission to the PreMedical Course are obliged to have passed their matriculation examination in biology, advanced level (HL), and one of the following courses of their choice: chemistry, physics, or mathematics,; moreover, they are required to take a qualification interview in the English language.

Candidates for a 6-year M.D. program at the Medical University of Gdansk who have not been accepted are welcome to apply for the Course.
