Below is information about mandatory preventive medical examinations:


Legal basis:

HEALTH MINISTER REGULATION of August 26, 2019. on medical examinations of candidates for post-primary or higher schools and for vocational qualification courses, pupils and students of these schools, students, students of qualifying vocational courses and doctoral students - text in Polish (112 KB)


1. All of the new students have to be obligatorily examined by an occupational doctor in Poland. This examination is the final condition of enrollment to studies at the Medical University of Gdansk.

2. A referral for preventive examinations will be forwarded by the Recruitment Department to the entity performing the tests, i.e. to the Family Medicine Center.

3. The candidate is obliged to read the list of harmful factors with which there is a possibility of contact during studies in the chosen field of study:
6-year MD: chemical factors – formaldehyde; biological factors; contact with potentially infectious material (blood, tissue)
5,5-year Master of Pharmacy: chemical factors – formaldehyde, ammonia, barium, chlorine,hydrogen chloride, toluene, hydrogen sulphide, phenol; biological factors; contact with potentially infectious material (blood, tissue), cytostatic drugs
3-year Bachelor of Nursing:biological factors; contact with potentially infectious material (blood, tissue)

4. The candidate must complete the Preventive Examination Card.


5. People who resume education at the Medical University of Gdańsk are also required to complete the Preventive Examination Card.

6. Examinations consists of three parts:
Laboratory examination
Sanitary and epidemiological examination
Occupational medicine examination

7. The examination takes place during the Orientation Week according to presented schedule. The examinations performed in designated facilities are gratuitous.

Documents needed during laboratory and occupational medicine examination: passport, copies of information cards from hospital stays, any additional medical tests results (if done during last 6 months). European Insurance Card.
Tests are usually conducted after arriving in Poland during Orientation Week.

Obligatory ant-Hepatitis B Vaccination

During the registration candidates is obliged to submit data about current status of his/her ant-Hepatitis B Vaccination. After arrival to Gdansk the accepted candidates are are examined for the result of antibody surface test proving that she/he is immune to Hepatitis B.
